Update on Midview's Board of Education Meetings

Starting with the September 23rd, 2020 Board of Education meeting, the board meetings will be held in person and open to the public held in the West Elementary cafeteria. Social distancing guidelines will be in place and masks are required for all those choosing to attend. For those unable to attend, a recording of each session will be posted to the website within 24-hours of the meeting's conclusion below.

Board of Education

The Midview Board of Education is composed of five residents of the Midview Local School District.  These individuals are elected to four-year terms. The Board elects its President and Vice President in an annual organizational meeting. Board members bring a variety of perspectives and strengths gained through their personal experiences, education, careers, and service to the Midview community.
Under the laws of the state of Ohio, the Midview Board of Education acts as the governing body of Midview Local Schools. The Board of Education has the responsibilty of operating the district in accordance with the wants and needs of the local citizens who elect the members.
Responsibilties of the Midview Board of Education Include:
  • select and employ a Superintendent
  • select and employ a Treasurer
  • discuss, determine, and approve the annual budget and appropriations for the district
  • provide the funds necessary to finance the operation of the district
  • consider, discuss, and approve or reject the recommendations of the Superintendent in all matters of policy, appointment or dismissal of employees, salary schedules, courses of study, selection of textbooks and other matters pertaining to the operation of the district
  • require reports of the Superintendent concerning the conditions, efficiency, and needs of the district
  • inform the public about the progress and needs of the District 
  • evaluate the distrcit's effectiveness in achieving the the Board's stated education purposes
  • adopt the district's governing policies for students and employees

    Meet the Board Members

    (President) Kathy Quintiliano
    Kathy Quintiliano is currently serving her second term as member of the Midview Board of Education.  Kathy serves on the Finance/Audit Committee and is a member of the Personnel/Negotiations Team.
    Janet Winslow is a graduate of The University of Toledo with a Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy.  She is a pharmacist at University Hospital Elyria Medical Center and Gates Pharmacy.  She currently serves as the Vice-President on the Board of Education.  Janet is the Endowment Fund Representative and serves on the Curriculum and Technology Committee as well as the Personnel/Negotiations Team.
    Tom Tomasheski is a 1991 graduate of Midview High School. He was forced into disability retirement from the Lorain County Sheriff's Office where he served as a Corrections Corporal until 2011.  Tom is very active with coaching and leading in the Lorain County Hot Stove Baseball and Softball programs. He also volunteers for numerous positions and events within the Midview school district. 
    Tom was elected to the board in 2013. He has served as Board President in 2016, 2018, and 2019. He served as Vice President in 2015 and 2017.  Tom is the Board Legislative Liason and also serves on the Finance/Audit Committee and Athletic Council.
    Dan Haight is a graduate of Midview High School.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Baldwin Wallace College and obtained his Master's Degree in Business from Cleveland State University.  Furthermore, he holds a certificate of Non-Profit Management from Harvard Business School.  Dan is the Chief Operating Officer at The LCADA Way.  He serves on the Building and Grounds Committee, Personnel/Negotiations Team, and the Athletic Council.  In addition to serving on the Midview Board of Education, Dan is an Elyria Rotary Club Board Member, a member of the Finance Committee for Leadership Lorain County, Secretary of the Midview Athletic Hall of Fame, and serves on several local and state behavioral health committees.  
    Gary F. Wilson has been a resident of the Midview Local School Community for 49 years. He graduated from The Univeristy of Akron with an engineering degree in Chemical Research and Development.  Gary has a personal passion to promote "Leadership and Intelligence" at all levels in the Midview Local School District including students, staff, parents, and community members. He has served on the Midview School Board for a total of 32 Years.  He has two children that graduated from Midview and four grandchildren that have, or will be, graduates of Midview in the coming years.  Gary love promoting "Educate To Innovate" and creative thinking at all levels.  He encourage community involvement in the transitioning of Midview from "Good to Great." One of his favorite sayings is "Go M.A.D...Make A Difference!"
