The Board of Education is pleased to announce Rob Showalter as the new treasurer for the Midview Local School District. He will begin serving the community as treasurer on Feb. 5, 2018.
Showalter has served as assistant treasurer for the Strongsville City School District since 2015. Prior to that, he served for years as an internal auditor for the Cleveland Municipal School District and the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority.
Selected from a pool of 11 applicants, Showalter stood out due to his background in auditing and finance, and for his strong verbal and written communication skills. “By collaborating with the school board, administration, and staff, my goal is to help provide the best opportunity for student academic success and the highest return on investment for the district's shareholders,” said Showalter.
In every community where he has worked, Showalter has used his certifications and skills to provide independent, objective assurance to add value and improve the organization’s operations. In addition to being a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), he is also certified in government finance (CGAP) and fraud prevention (CFE). He plans to use this experience and expertise to successfully manage the school finances at Midview.
“Rob has had some great experiences that have prepared him to be extremely successful in Midview. He has the perfect combination of experience, energy, and transparency that our community needs,” said Superintendent Dr. Bruce Willingham. “We look forward to him continuing the strong fiscal accountability that our past treasurer, Nikki Spriggs, established.”
The Treasurer’s Office oversees all of the financial operations of the district. Mr. Showalter reports directly to the Board of Education. The Midview schools work diligently to be fiscally responsible as reflected by the district's low expenditure per pupil figure when compared to the county and state. The treasurer welcomes your phone calls concerning school funding issues. Please contact him directly at 440-748-5353.
