STEM

5th and 6th Grade STEM Class

Students visit Mrs. Kauffman's Innovation Studio for STEM Class one specials class period per week. Fifth graders use Defined STEM project based learning while sixth graders follow Project Lead The Way’s Design and Model Course. They explore Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. A growth mindset is fostered while students follow the engineering design process and learn how to collaborate with classmates. Students participate in exciting hands-on STEM engineering projects that engage them in real-world challenges and expose them to STEM career ideas. Students are also able to visit the Innovation Studio during Flex Time to complete MakerSpace activities.

Please contact Mrs. Kauffman at kkauffman@midviewk12.org if you have any questions or if she can be of any assistance throughout the year. You can follow @CoachKMidview on Twitter to see examples of our innovations using #MiddieMakers.

Thank You Midview Endowment Fund

Thank You Midview Endowment Fund
The Midview Endowment Fund assisted us in bringing stand-up desks and stools into the Innovation Studio through the Midview Endowment Fund Grant Program. All 430 students at Midview East Intermediate School have benefitted from the flexible seating option that became available in the STEM classroom during the 2018-2019 school year. Students in the Innovation Studio are able to choose between sitting in traditional chairs, standing at high top desks, or sitting on stools at the high top desks. The addition of the stand up option was met with excitement and it increased the engagement level of our my students. On behalf of all of our students from this year and in years to come, thank you to the Midview Endowment Fund for supporting the “Stand Up For Learning” grant.
