Intervention Program

Introduction Midview's academic intervention is a systemic focused plan for grades K – 12 to provide additional instruction and practice that enables struggling students to attain higher levels of achievement. This plan encompasses strategies to be both proactive ensuring students are successful on State tests and to respond to students to ensure that no child shall be left behind .  Identification of Students Principals, guidance counselors, and teachers will identify those students whose academic performance is below expected levels of achievement based on Diagnostic Tests, Achievement Tests, classroom performance, and the Ohio Graduation Test.  Diagnosis of Content Needs Intervention content is based on grade-level indictors and departmental analysis of test scores. The following are targeted areas of intervention:

    • Test-taking strategies
    • Vocabulary development
    • Skill development
    • Practice that models the testing format [Achievement, OGT]
    • Formula writing; modified for math to using like terms and showing work

Application of Intervention Provide a comprehensive program of prevention and intervention that will enable all students to meet grade-level achievement standards.

    • Tier 1: Prevention: First good teaching initiatives for the 2005 – 2006 school year
    • Tier 2: Grade-level intervention
    • Tier 3: Intensive intervention

Evaluation of Effectiveness Analyze student outcome data to determine the success of academic intervention.
