Announcements
Without Issue 39, Midview Board of Education voted unanimously on November 18th to cut high school busing and restrict the use of Midview East Intermediate and Midview North Elementary Schools to close at 4:00 p.m. These cuts will be in effect starting January 20, 2008.
These cuts are the Board’s first efforts to make up the $1.2 million that Issue 39 would have generated if it had passed. By law, schools must balance the budget and cannot operate in the red, so the community must brace itself for the coming reductions. These cuts will definitely affect education, but we have heard the voters and after two failed levy attempts, we have no choice but to eliminate staff, programs and technology.
Central administration staff will be working diligently in the next few weeks and months to prepare for the budget reductions. We will be communicating with staff members, Midview school district residents and parents to make the transitions easier.
These are difficult times in the Midview Schools, and rumors will be swirling as difficult decisions are being made. If you hear information about cuts that you would like clarified, please contact us via e-mail or by calling 440-926-7605. We will post these entries on the website as appropriate. Thank you!
