MHS Attendance Policies

In addition to the state laws regarding excused and unexcused absences and the district policy, Midview High School students are expected to arrive at school on time.  Students should be in their 1st period classrooms when the bell rings at 7:40 a.m.

Tardy to School:
Students that arrive after the 7:40 late bell but before 7:50 should report directly to their first period class without reporting to the office. Students will be marked tardy to class and follow the policy below.

If a student arrives to school after 7:50 a.m., they need to report to the office and will receive a tardy to school.

The following tardy policy applies:
Students are permitted 3 "free" tardies each quarter.
4th tardy =  detention
5th tardy = two detentions
6th & 7th tardy = Wednesday/Saturday Major Detention
8th tardy and beyond = In-School Assignment (ISA)

Failure to report to the office if arriving after 7:50 will result in disciplinary action.

Tardy to Class
Students that arrive to class after the start time are considered tardy. Any tardy over two minutes may be considered a class cut by administration.

The following tardy to class policy applies:
3rd tardy = teacher consequence
4th tardy = office referral, detention
5th tardy = office referral, two detentions
6th & 7th tardy = Wednesday/Saturday Major Detention
8th tardy and beyond = In-School Assignment (ISA)
