ELBERT QUALIFIES TO DISTRICT TOURNAMENT

Golf – Junior Louis Elbert shot a 78 at the District Tournament last Thursday at Red Hawk Run in Finley.  Louis just missed qualifying for a trip to Columbus, as he finished 5^th, two shots from qualifying for the State Tournament.

 

Football – The Middies, led by junior Josiah Holt’s 222 yards and 3 touchdowns, downed Fairivew on Friday night, 42-21, to improve their record to 4-4 and 2-3 in the WSC.  The Middies opened up a 21 point lead in the first half, and then used three third quarter TD’s to put the game away.  The Middies travel to Bay on Friday for a matchup with the Rockets.

 

Volleyball – The Middies clinched their second consecutive WSC title with a thrilling 5-set win over Bay last Tuesday.  Senior’s Jacki Street, Hannah Duran, and Danielle Szpak all had great games, while sophomore Brittany Leininger and freshman Arrianna Cumberledge contributed with solid net play.  The Middies then defeated North Ridgeville on Thursday to finish their championship year at 17-5 and 12-2 in the WSC.  The Volleyball team opens up Sectional play tonight at they take on 6^th seeded Westlake at 6 pm in Kubuski Gymnasium 

 

Cross-Country – The Girls Cross-Country team was sensational on Saturday as they finished a close 4^th in the WSC Championship Meet at Bay Village.  Junior Lauren Hutka finished 8^th, while junior Brianna Adams placed 11^th and freshman Maddie Duncan came in at 16^th place.  The Lady Middie Harriers finished with 86 points, trailing third place Bay by only 6^th.  The Boys finished 7^th in the team meet.  The teams now set their sights on the District Meet this Saturday.

 

Girls Soccer – The Lady Middies finished out the year with a 3-1 win at North Ridgeville last Wednesday.  The Middies, now 5-10-1 and 1-6 in the WSC, take on Wadsworth in Sectional play this evening at Art Wright Stadium in Wadsworth.  Game time is 7 pm.

 

Boys Soccer – The Boys’ Soccer team lost a hard fought 2-1 match against North Ridgeville on Wednesday.  The Boys finished the year at 2-12-2 and 0-6-1 in the WSC.  The Middies travel to the Copley Road Soccer Complex on Wednesday afternoon to take on Akron Firestone in Sectional Play.  Game time is 4 pm.

 

Middie of the Week – Junior Louis Elbert is this week’s Middie of the Week for his solid play all-year, but specifically for his sensational showing in the District Golf Tournament.  Louis carded a 78 against some of the finest players in North West Ohio last Thursday, and his 78 was two shots away from a spot in the State Golf Tournament at Ohio State.  Louis is s two-year letterwinner for the Middies.  Congratulations to Lou on his great season.
