Golf – Junior Louis Elbert shot a 78 at the Sectional Tournament last Wednesday in brutal conditions, and qualified for the District Meet at Red Hawk Run in Findley on Thursday. Louis will be playing for a chance to qualify to the State Tournament at Ohio State next weekend.
Football – The Middies ran into a buzzsaw on Friday night as Avon moved their record to 7-0 with a solid win over the Middies. Midview, now 3-4, will try to get back on track Friday night as they host Fairview in a WSC Contest. Friday night is also Middle School Football and Cheerleading Night
Volleyball – The Middies slipped to 15-5, 10-2 last Thursday as Fairview defeated Midview in WSC play. The Middies, now tied with Bay, host the Rockets on Tuesday night with the WSC Title on the line. Tuesday is also Senior Night, as the Middies need all the support of the home crowd as they look to capture their 2nd consecutive WSC Title.
Girls Tennis – The Middies finished the season last week in Sectional play, as the doubles team of Alyx Plues and Amanda Brezina played into the third round, losing a tough match in the third round. The Middies finished fifth in the loop this year, as they say goodbye to six seniors who have had solid careers at Midview
Cross-Country – The Girls’ team won the Jack Wilhelm Invitational on Saturday, with Lauren Hutka winning the meet with a personal best of 21:36. She was followed by Brianna Adams in third, Maddie Duncan in 4th, Gabi Patarini in 6th, Michelle Carandang in 7th, Anna Jaskowiak in 8th, and Hannah Hughes in 11th. The Boys’ team placed 3rd overall, and Andy Jaskowiak reached the top ten, finishing in 9th place. The Middies are back in action this weekend as they compete in the WSC Championships at Cahoon Park in Bay Village.
Girls Soccer – The Middie Lady Soccer Team will close out the season at North Ridgeville on Wednesday evening, and then look to Sectional Play next week.
Boys Soccer – The Boys’ team will close out the season with home games against Lake Ridge Academy and North Ridgeville this week, while awaiting Sectional Play next week.
Middie of the Week – Our first Middie of the Week is Cross-Country runner Lauren Hutka. Lauren continues to improve upon her times, and ran a personal best of 21:36 for the championship of the Girls’ Cross-Country Jack Wilhelm Invitational Meet. Lauren, a junior harrier for the Middies, will look to lead the Middies into the WSC Championships on Saturday at Bay Village.
Sad News – Longtime Midview Athletic Booster, Football Videographer, and Ticket Taker Guy DeNillo passed away this weekend. Guy was a smiling face around Midview Football, Volleyball, and Basketball games, and always had a quick joke or entertaining story to share with anyone who was near him. The Midview Athletic Department and entire Midview community should keep Guy, and his wife Lila, in their thoughts this week. Guy will be honored on Friday night with a moment of silence for his service to Midview High School. Guy will be missed at our Athletic events.
