FACTS AT A GLANCE    FAQ   COMMITTEE

On March 4th, residents of Midview will have the opportunity to support their school district by passing a 2.5 mill levy. Issue #10 allows us to make an important investment in:

  • The education of our children
  • The safety of Midview’s bus fleet
  • The security of our schools
  • The value of our school buildings
  • Midview property values…today and tomorrow

When voters go to the polls on March 4th, because it is a presidential primary, only registered Democrats and Republicans are able to vote on the primaries, but ALL VOTERS, INCLUDING INDEPENDENTS, may vote on Issue #10. Everyone has a right to vote!

Here’s what you’ll see on the ballot:

An additional tax for the benefit of Midview Local School District for the purpose of general permanent improvements at a rate not exceeding 2.5 Mills for each one dollar of valuation, which amounts to $0.25 for each one hundred dollars of valuation, for five years, commencing in 2008, first due in calendar year 2009.

AGAINST THE TAX LEVY

When you vote for this issue, you will allow Midview to purchase educational necessities such as textbooks and classroom technology; replace our aging buses that have become unreliable and costly to maintain; security systems at the middle school and high school for the safety of our students; and make major repairs to the district to protect your investment in your schools. Monies from the Permanent Improvement levy are restricted to items that have lifespan of five years or more, and these funds cannot be used—now or in the future—on salaries, ongoing operations, or consumables.

This 2.5 Mill levy will generate a little more than $1.2 million per year to help educate our students and keep them safe, while maintaining our buildings, which are valued at almost $70 million.
