August 27: Middies Overcome Sluggish Start, Get By Firelands in 4 Games
The Middie Volleyball Team overcame a sluggish start, as the serving of Danielle Szpak and frontline play of Jacki Street, Arriana Cumberledge, and Morgan Adkins, helped the Middies win game two 25-9.  After spotting Firelands a 14-7 lead, Szpak and Street helped the Middies pull to even, and then hold on to win game #3 25-23.  Game #4 also saw the same thing, as Firelands jumped out to a 8-4 lead, but the Middie Seniors, led by Street, Adkins, Janie Rauscher, and Lindsay Payne, helped right the ship and clinch the match with a closeout 24-18 victory, giving the Middies the match 3-1.  The Middies, now 1-1 and 1-0 in the WSC host Vermilion on Thursday evening.

September 8: Girls Volleyball - Middies Overcome Slow Start, Spike Fairview

After dropping the first game of the match 25-22, the Middie Volleyball team responded with a dominating 25-19, 25-13, 25-16 performance to move their record to 5-1, 5-0 in the WSC.  The Middies were led by Seniors Lyndsay Payne, with 11 service points and 5 aces, Jacki Street with 13 kills, and Hannah Duran with 40 assists.  The Middies travel to Bay on Thursday for a big WSC showdown with the Rockets. September 5: Volleyball - Seniors Lead Way in Win Over Avon

Senior Setter Hannah Duran combined with senior hitters Jacki Street and Janie Rauscher in leading the Middies to a 25-18, 19-25, 25-19, 27-25 win over Avon to increase their record to 4-1, 4-0 in the WSC.  The Middies used comebacks in each of game of the match, shrugging off slow starts, in the win.  The Middies host Fairview on Tuesday night.

 

 

 

 

September 3: Volleyball--Middies Storm Back to Defeat Rocky River

Midview stormed back from 2 games down and rallied past Rocky River, 3-2, Tuesday night and improved their record to 3-1, 3-0 in the West Shore Conference.

The Middies lost the first two games, 25-19 and 25-23, and then stormed back to win three straight, 25-20, 25-13 and 18-16. Danielle Szpak led Midview with 16 kills and Hannah Duran had 42 assists. The Middies return to action tomorrow night at Avon as they put their undefeated WSC record on the line.

 

October 14: Volleyball - MIDDIES RALLY FROM 0-2 DEFICIT, ADVANCE TO SECTIONAL FINALS

 

 

October 8: Volleball - Middies Clinch 2nd Straight WSC Title

Behind the hitting of Senior Jacki Street with 15 kills and the setting of Hannah Duran with 46 assists, the Midview Volleyball team clinched the WSC Title last night at Midview in a 5-set thriller.  Senior Danielle Szpak added 14 kills, and freshman Arrianna Cumberledge also added 14 kills for the Middies.  Bay was led Pam Urwin who had 20 kills for the Rockets, who are now 13-8 and 10-3 in the WSC.  The Middies move to 16-5 and 11-2 in the WSC.  The Middies finish out the season on Thursday at North Ridgeville. Midview defeats Bay 22-25, 25-22, 25-19, 20-25, 15-9

 

Middie Volleyball Captures 24th Annual Cannon Classic Title

Led by tournament MVP, senior setter Hannah Duran, the Midview Middies clinched the 24th annual Cannon Classic by a score of 25-19, 23-25, 25-21 over runner-up WSC rival Rocky River.   Midview (13-4, 9-1) and Rocky River (12-5, 8-2) have met three times this year, with the Middies capturing all three matches which have gone the distance each time the two teams have met.  Midview was also paced by senior hitters Jacki Street, Danielle Szpak and Janie Rauscher, who all came up with big performances in the deciding third game.  Rocky River was paced by all tournament selection senior hitter Maureen Kessler.   North Olmsted finished third in the tournament by defeating Bay 12-25, 25-19, 25-23.

The Midview Middie volleyball team was facing elimination, down 2-0,when Freshman Arrianna Cumberledge, and Sophomore Brittany Leininger led a game three comeback, as the Middies won game #3 25-20.  It was then the veteran seniors Jacki Street, Hannah Duran, and Danielle Szpak who took up the slack, leading the Middies to a 5-set win in thrilling style, 20-25, 23-25, 25-20, 25-19, 15-5. The Middies now take on 7th seeded Medina on Saturday night at 6 pm, as the Middies look to advance to District play with a win over the upstart Bees.
 
September 25: MIDDIE VOLLEYBALL TAKES WSC LEAD
Down two games to none, the Middies, led by Seniors Danielle Szpak and Jackie Street, along with Freshman Arrianna Cumberledge, mounted a three game rally to squeak by Rocky River in 5 games last night at Midview.  Street led with 15 kills, followed by Szpak with 14, and Cumberledge with 13.  The Middies had to rally several times in games 4 and 5, winning game #4 32-30, and the finale 16-14.  Midview takes over the WSC lead with a 9-1 record, 10-4 overall, while Rocky River slips to 8-2, 12-4.Midview d Rocky River 23-25, 23-25, 25-17, 32-30, 16-14
