Health and Physical Education
HEALTH – Health Education develops an individual’s mental, physical and social well-being. With a more developed understanding of health, students are empowered to make good decisions pertaining to their health. Students will have the knowledge and understanding of many topics. Some of the topics may include: nutrition, drug and alcohol education/prevention, and first aid/CPR, and sexually transmitted diseases.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION - Physical Education develops and maintains maximum physical efficiency through vigorous activities which contribute to the following aspects of physical fitness: strength, endurance, co-ordination, agility, flexibility, sense of balance and speed. It develops attitudes, ideas and appreciation through situations that lead to social and emotional maturity. It develops knowledge of rules, techniques and strategies of all activities through a variety of game situations and teaching methods. FEE REQUIRED

PHYSICAL FITNESS - (Weight lifting and the body) - This class will provide the opportunity for students to work to obtain goals in body weight and strength through weight training and proper nutrition. The course will require classroom time to teach the following: 1. Basic and advanced weight lifting techniques. 2. Nutrition. 3. Muscle groups and the individual muscle. 4. Sport injuries and their rehabilitation. 5. The different types of weight lifting. 6. Different weight lifting programs. Students will be weighted, measured, and charted at the beginning and at the end of the semester to mark improvement. Once proper technique and knowledge of weight training have been established, we will begin to develop a muscle base in the major muscle groups through a basic weight training program. Then we will program each student's workout so they can obtain their individual goals.
