Thank you to Mrs. Szuch and Mrs. Corts for allowing the ELA students a little fun time after state testing. The ELA teachers used their LRC time the week before spring break to allow students some down time. Mrs. Szuch and Mrs. Corts had puzzles, drawings for students to color, and the favorite was definitely the Keva Block tower building contest. Students were given 200 Keva blocks which measure 4.5 inches tall x 1 inch wide x .25 inches in depth. Their challenge was "simple." Build the tallest free-standing structure they could with their 200 Keva Blocks. The winning team built a structure that was 78.5 inches tall before it crashed to the table breaking the normal silence of a library.
It was really special to see the students of MMS having a little fun after so many of them stressed out about their ELA state tests and it was even more special to see the smiles and determination on their faces as they tried to build the biggest tower or simply relaxed for a bit doing a puzzle or coloring.
