Dear Midview Families,
As we begin to close in on the end of our first quarter, I think it’s important to share some timely information from our county health department. I think the most important thing to know is that our county is still doing well, even though the cases are rising across the state. Our health department has been one of the most diligent and informative groups across the state and we are very thankful to be able to work with them.
There are a couple things I would like to share from my meeting today:
- Schools and even practices have proven to be designed very well to limit the spread of COVID. Our procedures and protocols have shown to be successful in stopping the spread and are considered one of the safety places for students and staff.
- The majority of COVID cases being seen in schools have come from sleepovers, parties, and/or other outside events students are doing. Please make sure to try and limit these unstructured events as much as you can.
- Please do not rely upon antigen/instant/rapid tests to decide on whether you or someone is COVID positive. These tests are not recognized by health departments and are actually delaying our response time, sometimes by as much as three of four days. In addition, they can be upwards of $150.00 and we do not want anyone to waste their time or money.
Student Lunch and Breakfast:
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that Free Meals have been Extended through June 30. This is great news for our students and families.
Finally, as a huge part of our district strategic plan, we have worked on open and transparent communication. We have also tried our best to keep families and staff informed as we have progressed through the many stages of this pandemic. Now that we are getting close to the end of the quarter, I thought it would be beneficial to hear from our families on how we’ve done with our reopening plan, communication, and safety protocols within our schools. Please consider completing a quick survey to help us gain valuable information on how we are doing. The link will be open until Sunday, October 25th.
I thank you for your help and time and I wish everyone a great and healthy weekend.
All the best,
