Middies on the Run - Students are Stepping Up!

Don’t be surprised when you see 5th and 6th grade students running around the all purpose trail after school.  It’s just the Middies on the Run! Middies on the Run is a running club at Midview East designed to empower 5th and 6th grade students to become kind and confident students, good teammates, and hard workers.

Through running, students will learn to reach for their goals and enjoy the hard work along the way.  Middies on the Run coach Amanda Solkiewicz and assistant coach Shane Sullivan encourage runners to be themselves, make good choices, be kind to others, and have fun.

Students will work on communication, collaboration, leadership, empathy, problem solving, appreciation of others, community service, and goal setting.  At each practice, in addition to running, students will participate in lessons that highlight these core skills.

As this is the first year of the Middies on the Run program, the coaches are excited to see how the program will grow.  Amanda Solkiewicz explains, “We have a great group of kids who are excited about running and begin great friends. I’m excited to see how they grow this season and how they impact our school this year.”

Students who participate in Middies on the Run will be invited to watch the Midview v. North Ridgeville 2 mile duel meet on October 1, 2019 on the Midview Campus.  On November 2, 2019, runners will also have an opportunity to compete in the Cleveland Stache Dash 5k in North Ridgeville to end the season.
