• Feeding the homeless
During the month of December, Mrs. Clarke's fifth grade students held a snack drive to benefit The Haven Center, a homeless shelter in Lorain. With the help of Ms. Hirsh's and Mrs. Young's homerooms, the students gathered over sixty boxes of snacks. On the 14th, Mrs. Sandy Humphrey visited the class, and informed the students about the shelter and its needs. Students enjoyed this experience, and the shelter was very appreciative.
• Veteran's Day Program
Midview East honored 33 local veterans, representing the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines, at its annual Veteran's Day Program. The 70 member choir of 6th graders, who gave up their recess time over the past two month ro rehearse, sang several patriotic selections, along with an armed service medley. Also on the program were several readings, reflecting the significance of Veterans' Day. The Midview High School JROTC and Armed Exhibition Team also participated.

• The students at East participated in the observance of 9-11, with a moment of silence to honor those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. Members of the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in the building, raised the flag.
