Welcome to the West Elementary Art Room. Please enjoy viewing a sampling of student work from the Annual Artastic Fest. Artastic Fest occurs the first Thursday of May and is a district wide kindergarten through twelfth grade art show. There is free admission, face painting, imagination stations, and demonstrations. Hope to see you there!
A word about the work you are about to view: Students create art in the mediums of drawing, painting, print making, ceramics, sculpture, weaving, collage and multimedia. While creating their art pieces students learn the elements of art and the principles of design.
Students also learn about art from cultures and well known artists from around the world. All lessons are aligned with the Ohio Visual Art Standards. Lastly, I work with students in the following philosophy of Midview Schools.
Art Philosophy of Midview Schools
Our team of art instructors strive to give students the skills to express their ideas through the visual arts. We feel the major purpose for art education is to provide an opportunity for individual students to realize their full potential, to express themselves as sensitive, visually aware individuals, and to become constructive, contributing members of our community.
