Tardy to Class/School
It is important for students and parents/guardians to understand the significance of being punctual to both school and class. By adhering to this policy, students contribute to a positive learning environment and demonstrate respect for their education and peers.
A student who is not in his/her first period class by 7:40 a.m. will be considered tardy.
7:35–7:50 a.m. — Students arriving after the 7:35 a.m. arrival bell but within 10 minutes of the start of school (by 7:50 a.m.) should go directly to their first-period class without reporting to the office.
After 7:50 a.m. — If a student arrives to school after 7:50 a.m, they must report to the Attendance Office and will receive a “Tardy to School.” Failure to check in at the office after 7:50 a.m. will result in disciplinary action.
Tardiness to class may result in the following progressive discipline:
1ST – 3RD TARDY – Teacher warning
4TH /5TH TARDY – One detention (Assigned by Teacher)
6TH & 7TH TARDY – Referral to an assistant principal – Major Detention
8TH TARDY & BEYOND – Referral to an assistant principal – In School Assignment (ISA)
Note: Students arriving late to any class during the school day will be marked tardy. A tardy of more than two minutes may be considered a class cut by administration.
Tardiness to school may result in the following progressive discipline
Teachers should treat this as tardy to class and should follow the above policy.
Students should NOT be marked tardy on the attendance sheet.
If a student arrives to class more than ten minutes after the first bell, they need to have a pass from the attendance office and should be marked TARDY on the attendance sheet
Administration reserves the right to use their professional judgment on a case by case basis to deter from the above disciplinary schedule for infractions.
