New Ohio law requires the Midview Local School District to provide parents and students with an annual notice of contracts between the District and Technology Providers that affect students’ educational records. A Technology Provider is a person or entity that contracts with the District to provide a school-issued device for student use and creates, receives, or maintains educational records. A list of curriculum, testing, or assessment Technology Providers that contract with the District, as well as the educational records to which each has access, may be accessed here.

Ohio law also requires school districts to provide an annual notice to parents in any school year when they will generally monitor school-issued devices. School-issued devices include hardware, software, devices, and accounts that the school district, acting independently or with a Technology Provider, provides to an individual student for the student’s dedicated personal use. The District will either directly or through a Technology Provider, monitor electronic data on school-issued devices during this school year for the circumstances listed in Section 3319.327(B) of the Ohio Revised Code, as is standard practice at school districts across the state.
