Superintendent's Message

As we begin the 2023-24 school year, we do so with an air of excitement and a renewed sense of focus. We have much to be proud of, and I know our students and staff are ready to be a part of another foundational year at Midview Local Schools.

Several initiatives are at the forefront of our planning and implementation efforts this school year. And while our initiatives may change, our desired outcome will remain the same - to provide the best possible atmosphere for students to learn, grow and thrive.

Our top priority will always be the safety and well-being of all our students and staff. This year, we are proud to have added a second school resource officer on campus. Officer Csizmadia will oversee our elementary campus while Officer Bing will oversee the middle and high schools. As a proud recipient of an Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC) grant, we have successfully updated and upgraded building security systems and cameras and re-outfitted keys/fobs to district entrances. As always, we will continue to reinforce our commitment to safety throughout the year. Complacency is not an option when striving to ensure the safest possible learning environment.

To provide our students with the support they need to navigate our ever-changing world, we continue to focus our efforts on social-emotional learning (SEL). We have maintained support staff, strengthened outside partnerships, secured grants for resources and established a grade-level continuum. Staff will continue to mindfully embed SEL into daily instruction, reaching our youngest learners in the district up to our seniors. As students progress through Midview Local Schools, our social-emotional curriculum will evolve with them and remain a consistent focus of their education.

This past year, we also made substantial strides in providing unique educational pathways. From Biomedical Science to Broadcasting and Micro-electromechanical Systems to Computer Gaming, we strive to offer pathways at the middle and high school levels that provide students with 21st-century skills and knowledge to succeed in college and careers. We will continue to expand course offerings based on student interest and evolving workforce specializations.

There are incredible opportunities that lie ahead for our district, and we are committed to making this school year one of action. It truly is an exciting time to be a Middie.

As always, we are committed to our efforts of transparency and proactive communication. We will continue to update our community as progress is made on the initiatives and priorities mentioned. Please feel free to reach out with questions or concerns as they arise, and be sure to connect with us through our district communication channels:

As a district, we could not foster a growth mindset nor improve the educational experience for all students without a community that is committed to education, supporting its schools and getting involved. At Midview, we are proud to have this community connection and it is so appreciated. The community, family, staff and student involvement and support are paramount to our success, and I thank all of you for your contributions.

Dr. Bruce Willingham, Superintendent
