Dear Midview Families & Caregivers,
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine recently released guidelines for Restart Ohio with the goal of helping school districts begin to consider reopening options, while remaining cognizant of the health and safety of students, staff members and communities. We have utilized this guidance, along with the guidance from the Lorain County Health Department, to formulate our Midview Recovery Plan. We are committed to the safety of our students and staff members and will work to stay flexible as new developments arise. Our plan is based upon the belief that students need to be in school. We agree with the Governor’s assertion that the academic progress, mental health and social development of our students is vital to their continued success. We know that many of our economically disadvantaged students need school for other basic supports, most notably nutritious meals. Additionally, we understand the pandemic has upended the lives of all Ohioans, particularly children and parents, who rely on the structure of the school day for a much-needed daily routine.
As with all decisions of this magnitude, we know there will be questions. District staff members are here to assist you in making the decision you feel is necessary for your child(ren) at this time. Certainly, we will continue to provide updates as necessary.
Bruce Willingham, Superintendent
