Midview Local Schools is proud to announce that Midview High School Principal Chad Heuser has been named the Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators (OASSA) Zone 5 High School Principal of the Year. This honor recognizes school leaders for their outstanding leadership, commitment to student success, and contributions to school culture and the broader community.

“Chad leads with heart, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to doing what’s best for students and staff each and every day,” said Superintendent Dr. Frank Major. “His ability to connect with people, build trust, and push for excellence is what sets him apart as a true leader. This recognition is well-deserved and a reflection of the positive culture he has helped create at Midview High School. I am grateful to work alongside him and excited to see his impact continue to grow.”

OASSA honors one high school and one middle school principal and assistant principal from each of its 10 zones across Ohio. Zone winners then become candidates for the State of Ohio Principal of the Year and Assistant Principal of the Year awards. Final selections will be made by the OASSA Board of Directors following a review of each nominee’s application materials. State-level winners will be announced on August 18, 2025, and all award recipients will be honored at the OASSA Fall Conference in Columbus on October 6.

“What matters most to me is building a school culture where everyone—teachers, staff, custodians, cafeteria workers, and every member of our team—can thrive and do their best,” said Heuser. “No matter their role, every person has an opportunity to impact student success. We all have our hands in the work, and everyone should feel valued, supported, and confident that they have my backing whenever it's needed.”

Before joining Midview Local Schools, Heuser spent nearly two decades at Elyria City Schools, serving as a high school math teacher, department chair, and assistant principal. He began his tenure at Midview in 2021 as principal of Midview Middle School and assumed the high school leadership role in August 2023.

“For me, school leadership is all about seeing the success that comes from empowering a team of hardworking educators and staff,” said Heuser. “They show up every day and put in the effort, and it’s great to see the big payoffs and moments of triumph throughout the year. I didn’t become a school leader to get out of the classroom. I did it because I wanted to be involved in everything that helps a school succeed. I wanted to make sure we are creating opportunities to support each other, celebrate the wins together, and make a real impact on our students and the community.”

Heuser and his wife, Rachael, are long-time Midview community members. Together, they share two daughters: Kennedy, a current junior at Midview High School, and Kaitlyn, a 2024 graduate now attending college.
