Earlier this month, Midview High School hosted its 12th Annual College & Career Fair, giving students a valuable opportunity to explore future academic and professional paths. The event, organized by the MHS Counseling Team, is designed to help students begin thinking about their goals after graduation— whether that’s college, trade school, the workforce, or military service.
This year’s fair welcomed more than 50 vendors representing colleges, universities, trade programs, local businesses, and branches of the military. Students from all grade levels had the chance to connect directly with representatives, ask questions, and gather resources about the programs and careers that interested them.
“The main goal of the College & Career Fair is to bring potential post-secondary options right to students' doorsteps,” said Grace Veltri, MHS School Counselor. “It’s a way to expose students to opportunities they might not have known existed and, hopefully, spark their interest in something new.”
“Beyond that, the fair allows students to meet and build relationships with representatives,” she said. “In the past, we’ve had students connect with a representative, really enjoy talking to them, and end up pursuing a program the representative suggested. I spoke with numerous students who were genuinely interested in the different opportunities they learned about at the fair. For example, one student interested in engineering didn’t realize that Ohio State has satellite campuses that allow transfers to the main campus. After speaking with the OSU Mansfield representative, he was excited to learn this option could make attending OSU possible in the future.”
Events like the College & Career Fair continue to support Midview’s mission of preparing students for life beyond the classroom by providing hands-on, real-world opportunities to explore their interests and plan for the future.
