A familiar face will soon step into Midview Local Schools’ top leadership role. Midview High School Principal Chad Heuser has been selected as the district’s next superintendent, effective August 1, 2026. Heuser’s appointment will be formally approved during a special board meeting at Midview Middle School (Room 110) on April 30 at 7:30 p.m.
The Board of Education began its search for new leadership in March after the resignation of the previous superintendent in February. Following the application window, the Board conducted first-round interviews with five candidates. Three finalists advanced to second-round interviews on April 26, which included a panel of school community members.
“We conducted a thorough search guided by our district’s vision and mission, as well as feedback gathered from our community survey and stakeholder interview panel,” said Board of Education President Tom Tomasheski. “We were looking for a leader with both the professional experience and personal qualities to continue the great work happening across our district. After considering a number of highly qualified candidates, the Board was happy to find our top choice to be our own Chad Heuser.”
“Having known Chad for several years, I’ve seen firsthand the positive impact he has had on our students, staff, and community,” Tomasheski said. “Anyone who knows Chad knows that he is a man of integrity, an incredibly hard worker, and someone who cares deeply about the success of every student. Chad is, and will continue to be, a strong leader for Midview Schools.”
Before joining Midview Local Schools, Heuser spent nearly two decades at Elyria City Schools, where he served as a high school math teacher, department chair, and assistant principal.
He began his tenure at Midview in 2021 as principal of Midview Middle School before assuming the high school leadership role in August 2023. In that capacity, he has led all aspects of Midview High School, serving approximately 785 students and 100 staff members, with oversight of academics, operations, culture, staffing, student support, extracurricular programming, communication, and safety.
“Simply put, I want Midview to continue being the best version of itself,” said Heuser. “As a longtime resident, a parent of both a Midview graduate and a current student, and someone who has spent much of my administrative career here, I have a deep personal investment in this district. I know the strength of the foundation we have in place, and the values of this community are truly second to none.”
“What I’ve always appreciated most about Midview is our people and the pride we have in our schools,” Heuser continued. “The Midview ‘M’ represents a shared sense of connection across our communities, and I’ve truly valued the relationships I’ve built with our staff, students, and families who are committed to doing what’s best for kids. I look forward to continuing our shared work together as our district and community continue to grow.”
Throughout his time at Midview, Heuser has prioritized building a strong school culture where students feel supported and staff feel empowered in their work. He has also focused on expanding opportunities that prepare all students for success beyond graduation, regardless of their chosen path.
In 2025, Heuser was named the Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators (OASSA) Zone 5 High School Principal of the Year—an honor that recognizes school leaders for their outstanding leadership, commitment to student success, and contributions to school culture and the broader community.
“As a leader, I believe in being visible, communicating clearly and transparently, setting high expectations, and building strong relationships," said Heuser. "Above all, my commitment to the Midview community is to remain focused on doing what is best for students and to be a responsible steward of the trust and resources our schools rely on."
"I look forward to working closely with our Treasurer, Mr. Resar, to ensure the district is positioned for long-term financial stability and to re-engage our community in the district’s strategic plan so our work continues to reflect shared priorities. I also plan to continue conversations around long-term facility planning as we evaluate the needs of our schools.”
Heuser and his wife, Rachael, are long-time members of the Midview community. They have two daughters who attended Midview Schools from kindergarten through graduation: Kennedy, a current junior at Midview High School, and Kaitlyn, a 2024 graduate who is now attending Ohio University.
Heuser will work closely with Interim Superintendent Meredith Udris in the months ahead as he prepares to transition into the superintendent role.
Midview Local Schools will immediately begin the process of filling the high school principal position for the 2026-2027 school year.
