On September 26, Midview Local Schools celebrated the induction of two alumni into the “Make a Difference Hall of Honor” during the Homecoming football game.

The Midview Schools' Make a Difference Hall of Honor  recognizes distinguished alumni, former staff/volunteers, and community members for their contributions as excellent role models to our school community. The program aims to positively influence the goals of Midview students by making them more aware of what they can achieve, emphasizing the importance of giving back, and connecting them with individuals who have been part of the Midview heritage.

Recipients are chosen each year by a committee of Midview High School students, who review nominations and select honorees for one of three awards:

  • Distinguished Alumni Award: This is the highest honor that can be bestowed on a Midview graduate by the school and the Midview Hall of Honor.

  • Distinguished Staff Member/Volunteer Award: Recognizes a Midview staff member or volunteer who has had a significant positive impact on students, the school district, and the community.

  • Friend of Midview Award: The award is bestowed upon individuals in our community who have shown exceptional service and loyalty to Midview.

This year, two alumni were selected for the Distinguished Alumni Award. To be considered, nominees must have graduated at least five years ago, demonstrated leadership in their career, community, or philanthropic work, and exemplified strong moral character.

Both of this year’s honorees far exceeded expectations.

Dr. Eric Baron

Dr. Eric Baron, a graduate of the Class of 1995, is a nationally recognized expert and advocate for headache and facial pain care and education. He exemplifies the highest standards of moral character through his unwavering dedication to patient care, ethical medical practice, and the advancement of public health knowledge. Throughout his career, he has consistently prioritized integrity, compassion, and service over recognition—demonstrating a selfless commitment to improving the lives of others.

He is board-certified in Neurology and Headache Medicine, and completed both his residency and fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic, where he later served as Chief Neurology Resident and Stroke Medical Director at Medina Hospital.

Dr. Baron’s innovative contributions include inventing the Baron Rapid Lumbar Puncture Needle, a tool designed to enhance procedural safety and efficiency. He also developed the Virtual Headache Specialist platform, a first-of-its-kind, free symptom checker and educational resource for patients suffering from headache and facial pain—demonstrating his commitment to accessibility and digital health innovation.

His active involvement in professional organizations, including the American Headache Society’s Committee on Headache Education, the International Headache Society, the American Academy of Neurology, the American Osteopathic Association, and the Ohio Osteopathic Association, demonstrates his commitment to mentorship, advocacy, and ethical leadership within the medical community. He supports others’ growth while holding himself to the same high expectations, modeling humility, professionalism, and accountability.

Dr. Baron is also widely regarded for his truthful, balanced communication, especially in his public writing on platforms like Cannigma and wikiHow, where he breaks down complex medical issues in a responsible, ethical, and respectful manner for the general public.

Dr. Baron’s career is a testament to his deep personal integrity, compassion for others, and commitment to doing what is right—even when no one is watching. His high moral character is not just part of his professional identity—it is the foundation of everything he does.

Lynnette Wukie

Lynnette Wukie, a graduate of the Class of 2017, attended the University of Notre Dame on the Chick Evans Scholarship, a prestigious scholarship awarded to individuals who are considered to be high-level golf caddies who also have limited financial means for college. While at Notre Dame, she made national news when she tried out for and was chosen as the first female leprechaun in the college's 177-year history. Not only was she the first female leprechaun, but she was also one of only three African Americans to hold the role. She graduated with a degree in Film, Television, and Theatre in 2021 from the University of Notre Dame.

Lynnette strives to be a leader in all aspects of her career while consciously learning as much as she can from her peers and mentors.  Since college, Lynnette has continued her work with women in the field of sports.   She is currently a creative producer at TOGETHXR, a women's sports media and commerce brand started by Sue Bird, Alex Morgan, Chloe Kim, and Simone Manuel.

TOGETHXR is known for its “Everyone Watches Women’s Sports” shirts, and through her role, Lynnette helps carry out the organization’s mission to expand equity, coverage, and investment in women’s athletics. She has contributed to national campaigns that increase the visibility of women’s sports in bars and restaurants, as well as initiatives to stock free little libraries with books written by and about women.

Her work also takes her across the country, where she speaks at schools to inspire students to explore careers and opportunities in women’s sports. In her free time, Lynnette gives back to her alma mater by mentoring the current female leprechauns at Notre Dame.

Lynnette’s career is a testament to her belief that everyone can make a difference and to her commitment to equality, diversity, and having a positive impact on the world.

Congratulations to Eric Baron and Lynnette Wukie on their amazing achievements and induction into the Midview Make a Difference Hall of Honor.
