Shilo

This year, Midview High School welcomed a new member to its team: Shilo, a certified therapy dog who will provide students with emotional and academic support.

Shilo, a one-year-old Mini Aussiedoodle, has successfully completed Obedience Training, Good Citizenship Training, and Therapy Training. She is primarily based in the School Counseling Department but will also visit classrooms, hallways, and offices as needed. Her role includes supporting individual and group counseling sessions, offering stress relief during exams, and fostering a positive school culture by encouraging empathy, responsibility, and leadership. Shilo currently visits the high school about once a week.

“From a young age, I developed a strong passion for working with and training animals,” said Robyn Fox, Midview High School Counselor and Shiloh’s owner. “As I grew older, I also discovered a deep appreciation for helping people. Combining my love for animals with my desire to support others has become a natural and fulfilling path for me. My hope is that Shilo will provide our students with both emotional and academic support while serving as a positive influence throughout our school.”

Fox has served as a school counselor at Midview for eight years. Before joining education, she spent over a decade as a Human Resources Manager. She holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master of School Counseling.

Fox shared that Shilo loves people, treats, and toys—especially tennis balls—and, as a hypoallergenic dog, she can comfortably interact with all students across the high school community.

“Shilo will help promote a positive school culture, improve student engagement, and offer comfort during stressful times,” Fox added. “She is already making a difference by helping students feel supported and connected.”

Shilo’s presence directly supports the Counseling Department’s mission of promoting emotional well-being, strengthening communication and coping skills, and encouraging positive student engagement.
